Skin in the Game

Skin in the Game
Jackie Barbosa

3 Stars

So this happened forever ago, but relax …

THEY GET ME EVERY TIME!
FOOTBALL! BASEBALL! HECK I MIGHT EVEN DIG A HOCKEY PLAYER!
Okay maybe not a hockey player, I have seen a few hockey players in my day and there is a reason they wear full face masks. Rude??? Sorry…. Don’t stone me if you know a hot hockey player… just send me a picture *winks*

The stuff you find on a book cover ----
Angela Peterson was always the quiet, shy kid growing up in Harper Falls, crushing on the high school quarterback and honing her football strategy skills. Now grown up and coaching the high school team, she’s shocked when that same sexy quarterback returns to Harper Falls asks her back to his hotel room. And then tries to steal her job.

Injured NFL quarterback Cade Reynolds is in Harper Falls to take over as interim head coach, and he never thought the tall, blond bombshell he propositioned would offer up any resistance. Not to a repeat of the amazingly wild night they shared and certainly not to his coaching position.

But the Harper Falls High Eagles are Angie’s team, and even the hometown hero won’t take that away from her, no matter how hot he is. As the two engage in a battle of wits and wills, this is one game neither is prepared to lose.

CHARACTERS:
Pretty awesome lady Angela with confused intentions in the beginning but no biggy. For a women in her dirty thirties (I hate that terminology but I had to use it) she had her life where she wanted it and knew her limits… Until…

Cade, super hot (and super hot) but I wanted….no, I needed him to be more ALPHA! Take charge do something, but instead he was bit passive for me.

All secondary characters in my opinion were vanilla.

Over/Under:
18 + book with a plot that was “ok”. A bit anti-climatic but definitely had some fantastic swooning moments.

I was a fan, but I wouldn’t necessarily but this one on the top reads list just yet.

I will however read another novel by Ms. Barbosa… because her writing has the ability to pull you; it just needs to keep us bound ;)

Well, well... Woods

Twisted Perfection

5 Stars!

I loved this story!
The world Abbi Glines creates is such so... snotty (for one) and absolutely nothing close to reality! And this my friends... is why I love it!

Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

Thinking thoughts and ponderations:
I was always, always drawn to Woods in the Fallen to Far series! I actually was like - Rush, move your ass aside - Woods - come in for the landing!
But that obviously did not happen and I am 110% completely okay with the outcome ---- Because Della and Woods are perfections!

Storyline is super unique and takes place in the ever beautiful Rosemary by the sea...
Far fetched at times but hey that might just be because I have NEVER lived such an extravagant life ;) Well, of course, unless vicariously through my many fictional crushes.

Ending was like BAM CLIFF HANGER! BUT not the ones that make you want to set you kindle on fire --- so relax --- *smiles*

Have fun reading this one --- Absolutely for a mature audience! So, don't say I didn't warn you if you begin having vivid Woods dreams. *winky*

One can NEVER get enough of J. Lynn!

Cover Reveal
Frigid
J. Lynn

*clears throat and curtsies*

Calling all lovers of J. Lynn!

And perhaps, even those of you who are *coughs* uninformed.

The secret is out!

Cover reveal time!

Drum roll please!

Holy mother of all unclaimed babies!

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

Frigid will be available in digital formats on July 30th 2013
Print release of Frigid will be November 5th 2012

Reckless (#3)
S.C. Stephens

3.5 ☆s

Oh boy, I knew it had to come to this, the moment where I sat down and actually wrote a review on Reckless.
It is no secret, S.C. Stephens throws her readers into a pile of shit. No joke. Love can get messy and during Thoughtless she never strayed from provided the real deal, emotions, desires, and the thoughtless actions that accompany any affair. Effortless was even more gut-wrenching. I constantly found myself crying with Kiera whilst wanting to punch her in her lady parts.

But true love, with its ever fleeting desire and passion that no relationship can survive without, Kiera was given a second (or millionth - I lost count) chance and Kellan just couldn’t live without the only women who made him feel and accept love.

I did and well ...
Man, when Effortless ended, life was good.

And then rumors of Reckless came out. I just didn't know what to do. I was tired of Kiera's voice and her insecurities that never seemed to fade.

I wanted to hear Kellan’s voice in this whole mess.

Reckless, it is a journey for two people inevitably in love. While fame pushes back at them, Kiera and Kellan are committed and determined to make it through.

It’s imperative to read this novel, although, I will not pretend like it is as wonderful as the rest. I skimmed. I did.

I needed more passion and steam.

Multiple sections were unneeded but it doesn't change the fact that we all love Kellan. Kiera --- Honestly I saw little growth in her confidence. I wanted her to come out like some sex starved lover. But that never happened.

Liked it --- didn’t love it…

Enjoy as best you can… I wish I could have raving reviews… just not happening…

Ten Tiny Breaths

Ten Tiny Breaths
K.A. Tucker
Provided by Netgalley.com

I have seen my fair share of bookish boy friends. I have swooned, screamed, stepped on baby kittens (unintentionally), and taken innumerable cold showers. None have ever made me go as bat shit crazy as Trent. Ladies (and gentlemen) --- You are in for a treat with this one. He is overly creepy, incredible sexy, deeply rash, and just utterly mouth watering. I held my breath each time he spoke or moved or disappeared.

Kacey says it best!

“Dammit! That guy is the dictionary definition of contradiction. He skates between nice guy and bad boy so fluidly, I never seem to notice the transition. It would be easier if he were a pigheaded player.”

Kacey is so jacked up! So sarcastic! And wow! Nobody does bitch like this woman! I loved her fire and pure determination to save the last person in her life –Livie.

To say Kacey struggles with her past is a disgusting understatement. It’s a nightmare she will never wakes up from, one that keeps her in a constant state of rage. She was in a car accident that killed her father, mother, best friend, and boy friend. She was saved but barely. The girl that remained after the accident vaguely resembled the girl she once was.

After the accident, Kacey spent a year in recovery and eventually Livie and her ended up living with her aunt and uncle. After her uncle crossed the line with Livie, Kacey took her sister and ran, finding their way to Florida.

The twisting of this plot is out of control. I loved every moment of this novel. It was extremely touching and swoon-worthy to the max.

The romance was fantastic but fade to black is where this book is at. Still I would recommend it :) Enjoy!

Beautiful Bastard - Christina & Lauren

A copy of this book was graciously provided to be my Gallery Books!

*happy dance*

THANKS GUYS YOU ROCK!

*coughs*

For a mature viewing audience only please…

The deal? Well… *clears throat*
I LOVED THIS BOOK!

5 stars peeps!

“My boss, Mr. Bennett Ryan. Beautiful Bastard. My stomach clenched tightly at the thought of him: tall, gorgeous, and entirely evil.”

“I wanted her. I wanted her more than any woman I’d ever seen.  The big problem was I also hated her… Miss Mills.”

Miss Mills aka Chloe is working on her MBA and is the right hand of one Beautiful Bastard. Don’t let her predisposition to bash Bennett dissuade you, Chloe isn’t always sunshine and lollipops herself!

Mr. Ryan aka Bennett dishes and she takes *winks*. The two of them are rampant, passionate, and extremely exasperating. For 9 months, with Chloe as Bennett’s right hand their relationship was professional while the silently loafed and fantasized about one another --- and then one fateful night in a conference room bordered by tall ceiling to floor windows, something broke.

My feelers:

It took me a while to get used to the whole “Miss Mills” – “Mr. Ryan” thing… It was a tidbit awkward – But eventually when they began “conversing” on a first name basis I got all warm and gushy inside!
The forbidden and infuriating romance of it all had me swooning and adjusting in my seat who times than I am comfortable admitting. *smiles bashfully*

My perfect asshat ---

We have all known those dickhead guys that you literally hate, but countless times *exhales* find yourself gawking as said asshat/dickhead. This is why I fell in love with Bennett – Because his dick-headishness didn’t stick.

It’s explicit and very heavy --- But I thought it flowed nicely and I could not put the book down.

Chloe gave me a new love for power panties and was the perfect picture of a woman who is determined and strong.

Secondary characters were so – so, but the book mainly focuses on the building and destroying of Bennett and Chloe’s relationship.

If you enjoyed authors such as:

J Lynn
Katee Robert
Samantha Young
Olivia Cunning
K.A. Linde
Kendall Ryan

I think you will find yourself very pleased!

Oh and BTWS it’s Dual POV!

I honestly
cannot
wait for
Beautiful Stranger!

Rule

Wow. Just wow.

Positive… First, I am going to start with positive.

The plot --- pretty good idea.
A trifecta of brother growing up in Colorado… Rome the older brother, Remy and Rule the twins.
Shaw the girl who needs saving and Remy the boy who comes to the rescues.
Remy is killed in a horrific car accident while on his way to pick up his intoxicated twin. And as a result, he leaves behind a whole mess of a family that is simply trying to stomach one another’s presence.
You want more??? Read this little ditty on Goodreads

2 STARS

Some great dialogue and potential for even better characters.

Rule was fantastic --- His character was clear and you felt drawn to his eccentric and overly passionate torment…

Shaw on the other hand I never felt like I understood. Throughout the book she was making decision that went against everything we had come to know about her character. Now I understand females generally make horrible decisions during an angst driven novel, but they just weren’t jiving with the story line…

This book has a ton of potential --- with Shaw’s crazy ex-boyfriend Gabe and Rule and his desire to run from love and protect Shaw.
But I just don’t believe the book was ready to be published. The editing that needs to be done is out of control. I cannot believe that it was put out there for the world to read when it seriously only needed a few eyes to read over it and make changes. The plot needs fixing and the characters need more individuality.
Potential--- but I just found myself frustrated and ready to throw my kindle based on the fact that “careful” was spelt “carful” repeatedly.

Sorry … Maybe next time. And darn it I really wanted to read Jet’s story.
